Opera House Finally To-night: “Batchelor Daddy” and “Murder in the Air.” Next attraction, commencing to-morrow (Friday): “Tin Pan Alley.” “TIN PAN ALLEY.” Stirring with romance, laughter memories and melodies of the unbelievable street that makes the nation sing, “Tin Pan Alley,” 20th. Century-Fox film which stars Alice Faye and Betty Grable, commencing at the Opera House to-morrow (Friday), is guaranteed to hold audiences spellbound by its spectacular music and action. Jack Oakie and John Payne head a great featured cast of top-notch entertainment-makers in “Tin Pan Alley,” which includes Alien Jenkins, Esther Ralston, the Nicholas Brothers dusky dancing stars, and Ben (Shadrach) Carter. With some of America’s greatest popular song writers of yesterday and to-day contributing their best and biggest hits, “Tin Pan Alley” surpassed by Jar any musical since “Alexander's Ragtime Band,” which swept the nation. It tells how song hits are made in human terms of composers and song pluggers. Briefly, .“Tin Pan Alley” narrates the experiences of two shoestring song publishers, Jack Oakie and John Payne, whose songs achieve prominence after Alice Faye sings them. Alice and John fall in love but a split comes when he pays more attention to his songs than to lovely Alice. They are rejoined in London, however, when war is declared. Paced at a rapid tempo and set in a background of those stirring years of strife, “Tin Pan Alley” smashes into a thrill-packed finale which climaxes its sweeping drama. Marked by many outstanding highlights, the spectacle of Alice Faye and (Betty Grable doing a torrid hula’ hula dance is really a sight to behold. Glamorous and torchy, these two oeauties top anything they’ve ever done on the screen. Some of the memorable tunes in the picture are “America I Love You,” “K-K-K-Katy”, “Moonlight Bay”, “The Sheik of Araby”, and “Goodbj'e Broadway, Hello France.”

Finally To-night: “Whistling in the Dark.” Commencing to-morrow (Friday): “Nothing But the Truth,” starring Bob Hope.

It’s a safe bet that you’ll enjoy the biggest laugh you’ve ever had 'when you see Bob Hope try to win a 10,000 dollar bet by telling the truth and nothing but the truth, in Paramount’s new comedy, “Nothing But the Truth,” coming on Friday to the Regent Theatre. It co-stars lovely Paulette Goddard, and features Edward Arnold, Leif Erickson and Helen Vinson, in addition to other favourite players. The fun gets under way fast, as Bob Hope, in the role of stockbroker, sends the laugh market soaring by betting 10,000 dollars that he can tell the truth for 24 hours. What a situation I It’s the funniest picture of the year !
