SHEEP MARKET FIRM. P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 25. Messrs. H. Matson and Co. review to-day’s Addington livestock sales as follows: — . Fat Sheep: There was a' similar entry to that of last sale, approximately 3.500. The quality was good and the market was firm, with a slight increase. Values were: Extra prime wethers to 34s 10d; prime wethers to 30s 6d; medium wethers to 275; light and ordinary wethers from 21s to 245; extra prime ewes to 18s lOd; prime ewes to 18s; ordinary ewes to 15s; light and aged from Ils to 13s. Fat Cattle: There was a slightly larger entry of 560. The quality was fair. The market was firm for extra prime sorts, others were easier, and the market was erratic. Values were: Extra prime steers to £2l 12s 6d; prime steers to £l7 10s; medium steers to £l5 ss; light and ordinary from £lO to £l3; extra prime heifers to £l3 17s 6d; prime heifers to £ll 15s; medium heifers to £9 10s; light heifers to £7; extra prime cows to £l2 17s 6d; prime cows to £lO 15s; medium cows to £8; light and aged cows to £5 7s 6d. Vealers: There was a fairly large entry. The quality was the best for some time for several lines of extra prime runners. The market was firm for smaller calves, meeting with an excellent sale. Values were: Runners to £lO Is; good vealers to £6 18s 6d; large calves to 58s. Porkers: There was the smallest entry for some time, with an improvement in price. The market was good throughout. Choppers were in medium supply. The market was firm. There was a similar entry of baconers to that of the last sale. It was a keen sale. Values were: Choppers to £5 13s 6d; average porker price. 7d to 9d; average bacon m-ice 6id to 74d. There was a much larger entry of store pigs. Values were easier except for a large entry of storbs, which met with a firm sale. Large stores sold to 425, slips to 20s, best weaners to 15s.
