STATE CONTROL. OF THE WHOLE INDUSTRY. (free. 6.30). CANBERRA. July 27. Regulations for the Government control’ of the coal industry are expected to be gazetted soon. The existing private control will be retained, but the Commonwealth Government will control prices, and profits, and will direct the work in all the pits and all the fields. The regulations will be administered by a commissioner Federal Government officials said that the Government is determined to ensure the cont nuity of production of coal The regulations had been here withheld in a hope that recently-appointed Reference Boards would establish industrial peace on the coalfields. Serious stoppages at. the mines, and an interruption in the loading of the colliers, however, had made stronger measures necessary. It was emphasised that the womens in the industry would be fully protected.
