WAGES AND LIVING COSTS.

[To the Editor.] Sir.—In the Millerton notes of your issue of July 26th., I am reported as saymg “that the cost of living bad increased, but that wages had increased in a corresponding degree, seeming always to lag behind.” ’Phis is incorrect, and does not make sense as it reads. What I did state at the meeting reported upon was that real wages have fallen since the outbreak of war, because prices have increased at a far greater rate than money wages. Will you kindly make this correction? Yours, etc.,

D. G McRAE.
