FOOD THIEVES IN BIRMINGHAM. LONDON. July 21. Saying that he would show no mercy to food racketeers, Judge Stable, at the Birmingham Assizes, sentenced four men to three years' imprisonment each, in connection with the stealing and receiving of two tons of butter. NEW BRITISH TANKS. LONDON, July 20. A new heaw infantry tank now in mass production in Great Britain is described as the most formidable fightinp- weapon in the world. Although heavilv armoured, it can go over any ground at a startling speed. Immense gun-power is concentrated in it, while its heavy armour gives such protection to the crew that, even if it is brought to a standstill, it becomes a stationary fort, impenetrable bv ordinary fire. This new tank is the produce of the best engineering brains in the Empire, and its details are still a closely-keot secret. The Prime Minister (Mr Churchill), who is the only civilian that has ever had a ride in one. was particularly imnressed with its manoeuvrability.
