Luey, was approached in regard to the National Savings Group Movement, he readily agreed to-accept the responsibility and within a few days the first deposit was lodged, despite the fact that he and fellow countrymen are making regular contributions to New Zealand’s Sino-Japanese War Fund. Last week 67 groups and individual accounts were opened in Greymouth. In this postal district there are now 92 groups comprising 1062 depositors in addition to 719 individual accounts, making a grand total of 1781. The percentage of depositors to the population is given hereunder in respect of the larger towns in the district: Ross 17.4, Greymouth 10.6, Otira 10.4, Brunnerton 9.4, Hokitika 9.2, Reefton 6.3, Kumara 5.0 , Runanga 2.3. Waiuta. 2.3, and Blackball 2.0.
