FAR EAST RISKS

British Commander COMES TO CONSULT DOMINIONS (Received February 10, 9.50 p.m.) DARWIN, February 10. Sir Brook Ponham, the Commander-in-Chief of British Forces in the East, has arrived here from Singapore for discussions on defence questions. He said that a high state of preparedness existed throughout the East Indies, which were ready to face any situation which might arise. He also said that, although neither Now Zealand nor Australia came within his command, both are vitally concerned in the situation in the Far East. Therefore, he wanted to discuss co-operative, administrative, and other problems with their defence chiefs.
