luur O’, n Correspondent] Mr and Mrs Connolly and daughter have arrived from Dunedin. Mr Connolly takes charge of the New Zealand Road Service here, replacing Mr P. Sweeney, who has been transferred to Greymoiitn. A ball will be held in the Public Hall here on Friday night next. The proceeds will go towards the Catholic Church funds. The roads in this district are becoming very rough owing to the roadmen having been transferred to construct a new road at the Little Wanganui River.
Quite a' number of local people spent the week-end at Greymouth, attending the Karoro sports meeting held on Saturday.
Mrs H. Schroder, of Hokitika is here on a brief visit.
Mr H. Lewis is on a visit to Christchurch. Miss Revell, of the Westland Hospital staff, paid a visit here last Wednesday. Masters A. Diedrich, B. Diedrich, and J. Diedrich are attending the Grey Tech. School this year. Mrs G. Wright, of Ross, is on a visit to Hokitika. Mr P. J. McLean paid a brief visit here at the week-end. Mrs J'. Adamson is at present a patient in the Westland Hospital. Miss B. Ryan, of Ross, is on a visit to her sister here, Mrs W. E. Thiele.
