FREEZING WORKS FIRE. HASTINGS', February 4. Fire caused £2OO damage in the drying and locker rooms at the Pomoana freezing works, near Hastings, to-day. It was suggested that the outbreak might have been the work of an incendiary, but police investigations led to the conclusion that the tire started from matches left in the clothes of a worker in the drying room. Steam pipes circulate in the room, and great heat is generated when the clothes and other gear are being dried. The fire extensively damaged the clothing of 90 men.
