N.Z. SETTING

Degree Papers AUCKLAND, January 17. “I put this resolution with a good deal .of reluctance,” said the Chancellor (Hon. J. A. Hanan) to the University Senate, when Dr. Bell moved, according to notice of motion, that papers in subjects at stage three and honours in M.M. and M.Sc., in which examiners in England had been nominated, should bo set in 1941 in New Zealand in accordance with the scheme already approved by the Senate. “I can see now that in the future all examinations are going to be internal in New Zealand. Personally I do not like examinations in stage three, and especially honours, being dealt with in New Zealand,” added the Chancellor. The motion was carried. The Senate decided that the results committee should meet for the award of scholarships on February 21, and the executive on February 20.
