NOVEMBER RETURN. DEPOSITS £1,470,000 HIGHER. The monthly statement of assets and liabilities of the six trading banks at the close of business on Monday, November 25, was gazetted to-night. A comparison of the principal items, with the figures in the return at

The increase of £1,473 230 in free deposits follows decreases of £1,427, 299 and £966,689 in the two preceding returns. Advances are £213,443 lower compared with October, this movement replacing a series of recent increases.

NOTES IN CIRCULATION. Notes of the Reserve Bank held as till money on November 25 were valued at ‘£4,178,792, compared with £4,007,485 a month before. A rise of £6,566,500 in aggregate deposits compared with the total in November last year >s less than that shown in the previous month, when the figure was £8.305,000.
