RAILWAY REVUE
Another Crowded House The second presentation of the Railway Revue, “Half Shot at Sunrise,” attracted another crowded house at the Town Hall last evening, when another performance of a high standard delighted the audience. 1 If anything, the artists excelled their opening night’s effort, and the success which has attended their efforts is likely to be followed by more performances t»f the Revue both here and at other West Coast centres. Prior to the final item last evening, Mr G. G. M. Mitchell, on behalf of the Mayor and Greymouth Patriotic Committee, thanked the producer (Mr T. Caldwell), and the artists for their work, and the public for its large attendance. He said that the takings for the two nights amounted to over £lOO. (Applause). Already £7,,500 had been raised in Greymoutli for the Patriotic Fund, but the work was becoming increasingly difficult, and it was by efforts such as that of the Railway Revue and other concert parties that the funds would be raised in the future. He expressed appreciation of the very commendable effort of the Railway staff, and referred to the work of the producer on whom the success of the show largely depended. Mr Caldwell, in thanking Mr Mitchell for his remarks, said that Miss Monica Sinnott had. done fine work: in arranging the ballets and dancing numbers., He also thanked Mr Trevor Brown (musical director,) and the orchestra for their work. Mr G. D. Smart (Patron of the Company), thanked thg staff for their work, which he said entailed much effort in their own time. He also thanked the outside artists for their assistance, and said that great credit was due to Mr Caldwell and Miss Sinnott for their effort. It was gratifying to the staff to know that they had raised £lOO, and they thanked the public for their attendances on both evenings. Prior to the last curtain, gifts of bouquets and boxes of chocolates were handed across the footlights to the artists.
