BRITISH AIR RAIDS ■ At Several Points | Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] CAIRO. September 10. An R.A.F. communique states: The R.A.F. bombed Massawa, and started fires. The South African Air Force raided Mogadiscio, bombed motor transport, started a fire, destroyed an aeroplane, and damaged four others on the ground. Raids IN LIBYA AND ABYSSINIA (Received September 11, 10.30 p.m.) CAIRO, September 11. A communique issued by the R.A.F. here states: Our bombers on Monday successfully attacked aerodromes and harbours in eastern Liyba. Two grounded enemy planes were desiroyed by direct hits when Derna aerodrome was raided. In Elgazalla, Boma and Eltini areas bombs fell among planes on slipways. Columns of smoke fifteen hundred feet high followed explosions after an attack on objectives in Tobruk, ,-i and Eladen areas. All planes returned from all operations. R.A.F. planes attacked Dessie, where military buildings were destroyed. Enemy fighters unsuccessfully attempted to intercept. Asab, Massawa, Asmara, Abdelkader Peninsula and Metemme were all raided. One Caproni was shot down. KENYA ENCOUNTER CAIRO, September 11. A British patrol successfully encountered a party of Banda at El Katulo, on the northern frontier of Kenya. New Jewish City RAIDED IN PALESTINE 150 REPORTED KILLED (Received September 11, 9.30 p.m.) LONDON, September 11. The Italian Air Force made a raid yesterday in Palestine on the city of Tel Aviv, a new city, inhabited by Jews. Pamphlets in Arab were also dropped. An Army communique slates: “Over fifty civilians, including five Arab children, were killed, when Italian planes raided Tel Aviv and the adjoining area, bombing indiscriminately far from military objectives. The Palestine wireless announced that 150, including some Americans, are believed to have been killed in the Tel Aviv. raid. MORE ITALIAN RAIDS CAIRO, September 10. A communique states: Enemy .planes also raided Mersamatruh, where slight damage was done, but no casualties resulted. CAIRO, September 11. Enemy bombers raided Sidi Barrani on Monday. There were no casualties. ITALIAN AIR ACTIVITIES. ROME, September 10. A communique states: Our Air Force started fires at Jaffa, blew up a train on the Mersamatruh railway, and bombed and machine-gun-ned troop encampments in North Africa. The enemy raided a post in Cyrenaica. One was killed and four wounded. The damage was insignificant. The enemy also attacked Massawa Asmara, and Dessie. Two were killed and three wounded.
