43 MINUTES ALARM
Raid on Berlin early yesterday. [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] (Received September 10, J 1 p.m.) LONDON, September 10 Berlin was raided by R.A.F. planes on Monday night. There are no details. (Received September 11, 12.40 a.m.) BERLIN, September 10. The city went to the air raid shelters for forty-three, minutes during an alarm early on Monday morning. The authorities claimed that the raiders did not reach the centre of the city, but high explosive bombs fell in the northern outskirts of the city. There was heavy anti-aircraft fire for the whole width of the city. Shelling of Dover R.A.F. RETALIATE (Received September 10, 8.40 p.m.) LONDON, September 10. Enemy guns in France on Monday again shelled Dover. At dusk, R.A.F. planes hammered the German gun emplacements on the French coast, and the concussion of bombs falling bn gun positions shook the ground on the British side of the Channel. It was one of the most violent raids against tne Ger-man-held Channel ports SHELLING RESUMED. ON TUESDAY MORNING. (Received September 10, 11.10 p.m.) LONDON, September 10. The German long range batteries in France resumed the shelling of the Dover area early on Tuesday morning. British guns immediately retaliated, returning salvo for salvo. GERMAN REPORT. ON SUNDAY RAIDS. BERLIN, September 9. A communique states: Bomber formations, in spit e of bad weather, continued reprisals against London. They were able to recognise the targets from a great distance, by the fires still burning. Bombs of a l calibres wer e dropped on both si\es of the Thames, on docks, harbour works, oil depots, gas and electricity works, and warehouses. Photogwipbs taken from the air confirm the effectiveness of th e previous attacks. We attacked several aerodromes in the neighbourhood of Lincoln. The German News Agency claims that « bomber considerably damaged installations at Woolwich, at noon yesterday, destroying a powder rm.gazino, industrial plants, and a railway station.
