Finally To-night: “THE AMAZING MR WILLIAMS.” Commencing Wednesday: “THE MARSHAL OF MESA CITY,” and “THANKS FOR THE MEMORY” George O'Brien’s outdoor drama, “The Marshal of Mesa City,” is one of the most exciting of all the O’Erien films. Laid in the frontier days oi early Arizona, the picture offers the western star on, e of his most action-packed and dramatic roles to date. Th e . story introduces O’Brien as an ex-marshal. Pressed into servie as marshal when the town’s marshal is killed, O’Brien is torn between duty'to his fellow-man and his personal desire to retire, but agrees to rid Mes a City of its outlawry. Suspense, gun fights, hand-to-hand battles, comedy, tragedy and a tender romance ar e inter-woven befor e the popular outdoor star accomplishes his purpose. O’Brien’s performance is smooth and even, and Virginia Vale, as the romantic interest, shows great promise. Good support is given by Leon Ames, Henry Brandon, Lloyd Ingraham, Harry Cording, Slim Whitaker, and Mary Gordon. THE ASSOCIATE FEATURE. “Thanks for the Memory,” a comedy of newlywed bliss. The parade will be supported by musical and elocutionary items; a Britannia tableau arranged by Mrs J. W. Hannan, and a floral dance arranged by Miss Miriam Trott. The frockings to be presented by White’s will be up to a very high standard, and will tone in with the beautiful setting of daffodils, thus giving the ladies a full opportunity to satisfy their artistic tastes. The Daffodil Show will also be open in the afternoon, when the blooms will be judged by that authority on daffodils, Mr Lewis, of Christchurch. This season the weather has been kind to the blooms, and the benchings of first-grade daffodils will be outstanding. The proceeds of both afternoon and evening functions are in aid of patriotic funds.
