FOREST HILLS, September 7. The United States Lawn Tennis Association reinstated Mako and Sabin, to be effective on December Ist. Both were suspended early in 1940 for having violated the eight-week playing rule. Hardwick defeated Betz 5/7, 6/1, 6/2; Riggs defeated Schroeder 6/1, 2/6, 6/3, 6/4; Hunt beat Kovacs 6/4, 6/1’ 6/4. FOREST HILLS, September 8. Miss Jacobs reached the finals in the women's singles, at the U.S.A. championships, defeating Miss Hardwick 2/6, 6/1 6/4. Earlier Miss Mary Hardwick (England) beat Mrs Palfrey Fabyan, 6/1, 6/3. A surprise was the defeat of Miss D. Bundy by Miss V. Scott (England), 2/6, 6/4, 6/3. Miss A. Marble qualified for the semi-finals.
