The death occurred at Dunedin on Saturday of Mr John Robinson, secretary of the Otago Labour Council, and one of the outstanding advocates tor the workers in New Zealand. Mr Robinson, who was one of the stalwarts of the Labour Movement in Dunedin, recently argued the workers’ case in the Court of Arbitration for a general order increasing the rates of wages in industry in the Dominion.—Press Assn.

Sergeant J. R. O’Shaughnessy, of the Third Echelon, who leaves to-day for Christchurch, was farewelled on Saturday evening by members of the Greymouth Journalists’ Association, of which he has been a member for the past two years, in presenting him with a gold wristlet watch suitably inscribed, the president, Mr O. J. Morris, extended to Sergeant O’Shaughnessy the best wishes of members for his success and safe return to Greymouth. Other speakers added their good wishes, and Sergeant O’Shaughnessy suitably ’ replied.
