Canada to Store II FOR POST- WAR EUROPEAN NEEDS. (Received August 2, 7.50 p.m.). OTTAWA, August 1. Hon. Crerar. in the House of Q om “ mons. agreed with Mr Hanson (Beader of the Opposition) that, despite a huge wheat surplus, not a single kernel should be destroyed. Mr Crerar prophesised that a quarter of a million Europeans would be short of food within a year. He declared: When the war ends Europe will be starving. Her agricultural life will be destroyed, requiring years to rebuild it. Canada may be m a position to render a great humanitarian service to Europe. The Dominion has a carry-over of 275 million bushels of wheat with a crop of 400 million bushels expected.
