GREY RED CROSS. Mr A. H; McKane presided over the monthly meeting, of the Grey Rea Cross Society on Monday when tile secretary was instructed to forward a letter of thanks to Mr. Charteris ana other organisers of the Pipe Band concert expressing the committee’s appreciatiori for their very fine effort. It was decided to pay £3O towards the New Zealand Headquarters expenses and to request sub-centres to provide £2O as their combinea quota thi s amount to be allocated on a membership basis. It was decided to approach St. John’s Ambulance members with a view to completing joint arrangements in connection with Emergency precautions.

A letter was received from Mrs Shallcrass tending her resignation, owing to pressure of other activities. ’ The president and other member . spoke of the work done for the Society by Mrs Shallcrass and heir resignation was accepted with regret. The president informed members ! that a monster iced cake. had been handed over to the Red Cross by the hospital authorities for a raffle. It was decided that members do what they could to make this a successful effort all proceeds to be handed over for the benefit of the patients in the new T.B. ward. Some discussion took place in respect to the next shop day to be held on August 9 and .arrangements were left in the hands of the relative sub-committee. Several ladies of the committee spoke of the unsuitability of colour and quality oi wool, forwarded for the purpose, oi being made up into various garments by the ladies of this district. The sewing committee is to forward a letter to the proper quarters. Dr. J. F. C. Moors signified his" willingness to carry on the. First Aid classes provided there whs a sufficient number of interested pupils. It was decidtd to advertise, requesting those interested to attend a meeting on Tuesday evening next. At the conclusion of the meeting ?he raffle for quilts kindly donated by Mis Dennehy was drawn the winning number being 412, KUMARA DONATIONS. Kumara donations to the Red Cross Society are acknowledged as follows: Barrow Fair £2B 0s 6d; Borough Council £2 2s; Red Cross Society, M. Carthness, R. J.
