Mr and Mrs L. Seebeck arrived yesterday from Hawera.

Leading Aircraftsman P. E. Rundle, of Greymouth, who has been stationed at Hobsonville for some time, has been transferred to Wigram.

A cable from Bombay records the death of Sir Temulji Nariman, India’s oldest medical man aged 93. It is believed that he held the world’s record, living for 87 years with his wife,’ whom he married when he was aged six years. She survives him.

Mr M. E. Spiers, of Greymouth has been selected for the Royal New Zealand Airs Force and will leave on September 3 for the Ground Training School, to undergo training as an instructor.

Pilot-Officer R. Daniel arrives tome rrbw from Ohakea, on a visit to Greymouth. He was recently granted a commission and promotion to the rank of Pilot-Officer. He has completed his training and will join the Royal New Zealand Air Force overseas at an early date.

Advice of his appointment as shipping identification officer at Wellington from August 3 has been received from the Naval Secretary by Mr G. F. Bothamley, Clerk Assistant of the House of Representatives. He holds the rank of lieutenant-commander, and served with the Royal Navy during the Great War.

The death is announced from Wellington of Mr Anthony Graves Shrimpton, 59, a leading figure in the M.U.1.0.0.F., of which he was Grana Secretary since 1927. He was also secretary of the Dominion Council of Friendly Societies. He was interested in sport, and represented South Canterbury and Nelson in Rugby. He is survived by a son and daughter.

The death has occurred at Ch’, stchurch of Miss Frances L. Coupe?’, well known throughout New Zealand as a. worker for women’s organisations and for the St. John Ambulance, after an illness of several months. She was one of the three women with the longest record of service witn the St. John Ambulance brigade in Christchurch, and was this year promoted by the Order of St. John of Jerusalem an officer of the order.

Mr N. Hayes, Social Security Department, Greymouth, who left yesterday on transfer to Wellington, has teen replaced at Greymouth by Mr J. Mettrick, transferred from Westport. Prior to his departure Mr Hayes was farewelled by fellow members of the Greymouth staff, and presented with a fountain pen. The Star Football Club also farewelled Mr Hayes and presented him with an eversh-.rp pencil.
