OUTSTANDING SUCCESS What was proclaimed as the best ball of the year was that of the Post and Telegraph officers, held m Schaef’s Hall on Tuesday evening. The hall was elaborately decorated in varied colours, with streamers, balloons, and festoons of coloured lights. Over 700 attended from all parts of the district. Novelties were the order of the evening, with several lucky spots and a Monte Carlo. The supper, which was served by the Post and Telegraph Ladies’ Guild, was all that could be desired. The committee responsible for the success of the ball are to be congratulated on their 1 wonderful effort. The committee was as follows: Messrs Hayden (president), Doyle, Heaton Manttan, Hudson, Jones, Miss H. Neubauer and Mr J. Docherty (secretary). The music was supplied by Billy Williams’ Orchestra, which was enjoyed by all. Messrs P. Coll and R. Cochrane as M’s.C. ably controlled the floor. The winners ,of the lucky spot dances were Miss P. Guy and Mr C. Watson, and Miss Robinson and Mr f J'. McLennan. The winners of the Monte Carlo were Miss J. Honey (Ahaura) and Mr Horn (Reefton. Extras .were played by Miss I. Clayton (violin), Messrs A. Christensen (piano), J. Rothwell (cornet), and A. Cornell (drums) The proceeds from the ball will be donated to the Patriotic Fund.
