£34 MILLIONS
AUSTRALIAN WHEAT CHEQUE (Received Aug. 1, 12.46 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 31. It is officially announced that disbursements by the Australian Wheat Board for the 1939-40 wheat crop totalled thirty-four million pounds, which is the greatest cheque for wheat since 1926-27.
The growers received twenty-seven millions. The remaining seven millions was absorbed in freight, handling and other charges.
