OFF AUCKLAND HARBOUR Marine Department Warning [Per Press Association] WELLINGTON, July ?*). Th e Marine Department advises that the northern approaches to Auckland are dangerous because of mines. The limits of the area which has been mined are as follows:— Needles Point, Great Barrier Island, in the direction of 273 degrees, to Sail Rock; thence 000 degrees for eighteen miles; thenc e 093 degrees to a position 000 degrees eighteen miles from Needles Point, Great Barrier Island. ’ Mariners are warned that the area enclosed by the lines _ joining the above positions is dangerous, because of mines. Ships, including small craft and fishing vessels, will enter at their peril until further notice. Water to the approaches to Colville Channel from the southern end of Great Barrier Island, in the vicinity of, and to the seaward of Cuvier Island, and south to Mercury Islands is dangerous, because of mines. The entrance to Auckland, through Colville Channel, may be made, after obtaining instructions from the Marine Department.
