DISPOSITION TO BE APPROVED,

HAMILTON, July 30

Three of the claims for damages brought, by dependants of victims of the Glen Afton Colliery tragedy last September, when 11 men lost their lives, have been settled according to an announcement made in the Hamilton Supreme Court. The three claims were set down for hearing during the present session. The settlements were in respect of claims on behalf of dependants of William Brown, under-manager, Raymond Turley, electrician, and James Clark, shiftman.

Representing the dependants of Clark and Brown, Mr A. L. Tompkins said that the three cases were set down for this session. Mr W. J’. King, who appeared on behalf of the dependants of Turley, said that altogether there were 11 claims. He understood that a fourth one, for whom New Plymouth solicitors were acting, had also been settled. As yet there had been no settlements in the remainder.
