REINSTATEMENT OF EXSOLDIERS IN WORK.

PARLIAMENT BLDGS., July 30. “It is proposed to u discuss items of war expenditure in the ordinary course of discussions in the House, but whatever information can be provided for members will be given during the next secret session,’’ said the Prime Minister, when replying to an urgent question by Mr. J. A. Lee when the House met at 2.30 this afternoon Mr. Lee, on behalf of the Speaker (Mr. Barnard) asked if the Prime Minister would afford th e House an opportunity this session to discuss the items of estimated expenditure, comprising the War Expenses Account, which amounted to thirtyseven and a-half million pounds., The question of the Occupational Emergency Regulations, as they af fected° men discharged from the military forces and their employers, was raised by Rev. F. L. Frost in an urgent question to the Prime Minister. Mr. Frost mentioned the case oi a married man who was discharged after two months in camp, as tire result of foot trouble. He then found his job had been taken by a single man, aged 24, and the employer was not prepared to replace him, on the ground that it would not be fair to the new man. Mr. Frost asked if the regulations would be enforced by the Government. Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, in reply, said that thi s particular case was being investigated by the Inspector of Factories. The regulations reguiret* employers, in the case of men serving overseas or in New Zealand, to reinstate them, upon discharge,, in some position not less favourable than that held formerly. Compliance with these regulations would be insisted upon. ____
