[Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, March 20. The weather report and forecast are aS General situation: An anti-cyclone is still centred over the North Island, but barometers in the Dominion ar now falling almost generally with the advance of an extensive depression across the south Tasman Sea. Forecast: Winds northerly to westerly predominating, and becoming strong south of Taranaki and Hawkes Bay, with gales in places. A southerly change is possible in the south after about eighteen to twenty-four hours. , , Seas: Rough in Cook Strait, but otherwise slight to moderate, but soon rising south of New Plymouth and about Foveaux Strait. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate north-easterly winds and moderate seas in the north; elsewhere strong northerly winds to gales and rough seas, with a southerly change later advancing across the southern portion.

Weather: Cloudy to overcast generally. Rain is developing to-night, or to-morrow, in western districts south of the King Country, and gradually becoming more widespread. Moderate to mild temperatures, but colder in the far south, following the southerly change.
