Cheaper Prices [Per Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, March 20. The Director of Internal Marketing (Mr F. R. Picot) stated last evening that special arrangements had been made for the public to obtain supplies of dessert and cooking applies in case lots at very reasonable prices. Under the 1 arrangements made apples would be available at the following prices, which included delivery to the home: —

Dessert apples, 5s 6d a case of 4ffib, 3s a case of 201 b.

Cooking apples, 4s 6d a case of 401 b, 2s 6d a case of 201 b..

“The apples,” said Mr Picpt, “are of commercial grade, and for extra special grades a small premium over and above these prices will be charged. Supplies can be obtained from fruiterers in the main towns throughout the Dominion at the above pr’ces, and now that perfect apples are coming on the market, the public is urged to make them one of the general article of diet.

“Large quantities of apples have become available as a result of the war making it impossilbe to export fruit from this country; therefore the' public have an opportunity of obtaining cheap fruit of excellent quality, and at the same time help the' country in this time of national emergency,” said Mr Picot.

“I cannot, stress too strongly,” said Mr Picot, “the good that will result from ’the public consuming app’es in large quantities and. in making their frequent purchases in case lots. Should anyone experience difficulty in obtaining their requirements (under this scheme, they should communicate with any branch of the Internal Marketing Division throughout the country.”
