ALEXANDER MINES. Report for week ending March 15: —Stoping: This has been in progress on the same faces as previous week. tThere is no change to report. Battry: During the week, 60 tons of ore were sent to the battery. Owing to acute shortage of labour, operations in the mine have been hampered considerably. WELLINGTON ALLUVIALS. WELLINGTON, March 19. The Stock Exchange Association has received advice from Wellington Alluvials that the dredge recovered bullion estimated to contain 1090 ounces of fine gold, for the four weeks ended March 2. N.Z. CROWN MINES. AUCKLAND, March 19. Cabled information has been received that at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Crown Mines Company, Ltd., to be held in London on April 1, the directors will recommend a dividend of 3d a share (less English income tax at 5s 4d in the £) in respect of the year ended December 31, 1939, to be payable on April 2. The rate is unchanged, but income tax in fhe previous year was only 2s 4d in the pound.

MOUNT LYELL.

The Mount Lyell- Mining and Dredging Company, Ltd., progress report for the fortnight ended February 28, is:— Mines—North Lyell: Tons extracted, 2,002. Crown Lyell: Tons extracted, 1973. West Lyell: Tons extracted, 39,608. Lyell Comstock: Tons extracted. 3,184. Reduction Works: Furnace in blast full period; 4,975 tons refinery} anodes made for current year. Concentrator: Mill operated 332 hours and treated 44.803 tons ore, producing 1,896 tons concentrates. Copper refinery: Tank house in operation throughout fortnight: 511 tons cathode cooper produced »£or period. Total for current year: 5,271 tons. WELLINGTON ALLUVIALS.
