POLE VAULT AT NEW PLYMOUTH NEW PLYMOUTH, March 19. David Weichart, an American geophysicist, employed by' an oil prospecting company in Taranaki, jumped 12 feet 4 1-8 inches in a pole vault to-night at sports held by New Plymouth Athletic Club of which he is a member. The previous best performance in New Zealand was 12 feet 3 inches by an Australian, E. J. Winter at Napier, in 1936.
