MOTOR CAR TRAINS

Through Otira Tunnel EASTER TIME TABLE. The Railways Department has advised the Greymouth Branch of the Canterbury Automobile Association that the 9.32 a.m. Greymouth-Christ-church express on March 21, 22 25, and 26, will take cars from Otira to Springfield. To-morrow a train leaves Otira at 2.30 p.m. taking cars to Arthur’s Pass and Springfield. Another train will run towards midnig7RT\On Good Friday and Easter Monday a special motor car train leaves Otira at 10.35 a.m., and those requiring trucks are reqested to advise the Department immediately. Trains leave Sprinfield for Otira 12.5 p.m." Thursday, 8.45 a.m. Friday, 12.5 p.m. Saturday, 8.45 a.m. Monday, 12.5 p.m. Tuesday. Departures from Otira are Thursday 2.29 p.m. Friday 10.35 a.m., Saturday 2.29 p.m. Monday 10.35 a.m. and Tuesday 2.29 p.m. Cars may also be transported by the express trains each day, provided the limit for trains permits. The car freight is £1 19s 11, between Springfield and Otira and 16s 6d between Arthur’s Pass and Otira. Heavy Traffic is anticipated and already the Automobile Association has been inundated with inquiries. The Lewis Pass and Otira Gorge roads will remain closed for some weeks yet.
