HON. R. SEMPLE
Visit to Westland The Minister of Public Works and Transport (Hon. R. Semple) arrived in Greymouth last evening from Christchurch. The Minister is accompanied by Mr J, Woods (Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department), and Mi- J. W. Nissen (private secretary). The party is staying at the Albion Hotel. The Minister is engaged on a tour of inspection of Public Works on the West Coast, and leaves this morning, accompanied by Mr J. O’Brien, M.P., for Weheka, inspecting flood damage en route. They will stay at Weheka to-night. To-morrow an inspection will be made of the new road via Bruce Bay to Paringa, returning to Weheka in the evening. On Friday, visits will be made to Jackson’s Bay, Okuru, and Haast, returning to Waiho in the evening. Saturday will be spent at Waiho, and the return journey northward will be commenced on Sunday. No deputations are being received by the Minister during his visit.
