Forty-three teams qualified for the post-section play of the rinks championship at the Dominion bowling tournament, the final section rounds being played to-day under ideal conditions. Three rinks, Silbery (Petone), Hadwin (Hutt) and Munn (Canterbury) went through all the eight rounds without suffering a defeat. The only previous Dominion rinks champion holders remaining in the competition are Bremner (West End, Auckland) with seven wins, and Naylor (Hataitai) with six wins, although Munn had been associated with Haworth in his two New Zealand rinks victories. Spearman (Sydenham), although he lost two rounds in the rinks, has achieved an interesting performance in this year’s tournament, being among the qualifiers in the rinks, pairs and single events. Spearman, who is a former singles champion, has lost only three games out of twentyfour in th.? present tournament. In the final round of the rinks today Spearman lost to Smith (Tekaro) 16/21. Livingstone (Onehunga), another foamer Dominion singles champion, is going well in the rinks event with six wins. . , . .
