[Per Press Association]. PALMERSTON N„ January 14. The North Island tennis championships concluded on Saturday with light rain late in the afternoon. The finals resulted:— Men’s Singles: R. Howe defeated R. McKenzie, 6/2, 6/1. Men’s Doubles: D. Livingstone and J. Roach defeated Dyer and Painter, 7/5, 6/3. Women’s Singles: Miss M. Beverley defeated Miss B. Potter 6/4, 6/1. Women’s Doubles: Misses N. and M. Beverley defeated Mrs. H. D. Kennedy and Miss Z. Castle, 6/3, 6/2.
Mixed Doubles: W. Boddy and Miss M. Beverley defeated Hawkesworth and Miss Kerr 5/7, 8/6, 6/1. Boys 7 Championship: R. McKenzie defeated A. M. Johns, 8/6, 6/3. Girls’ Championship: M. Huse defeated E. G. Attwbod, 7/5, 6/0.
