BOXING

SCHOOLBOYS V. AMATEURS. The Blackball Boxing Club held a very successful tournament in the I Miners’ Hall on Friday evening last. The hall was well filled, boxing “fans” travelling from all over the district to be present. There was a big representation of participants from Greymouth, Runanga and Brunnerton. The first two bouts were refereed by Messrs McMasters and Morgan respectively, while all the other bouts were refereed by Mr. N. Kiely. Mr. W. Allen acted as announcer, and at the end of the tourney he publicly thanked all participants and the audience alike for turning out and mak- 1 i jng the tourney the success it had I ' turned out to be. The following are' [the results:—Morgan 4.12, beat Adams 4.12; Walker 6.4, drew with I Mundy 6.3; O’Brien 8.10, defeated Mountford 8.13; Silcock 6.6, defeated Schafer 6.6; Nelson 9.8, defeated Baker 9.7; Schafer 4.9, defeated Masters 5.0; McPhee 3.6, drew wifh Gra-, ham 3.4; Adams 4.13, beat McClure, 4.6; Kirk 9.4, drew with Stanton 9.1; Finlay 4.6, drew with MacGougan' 4.6; Clark v. Hoggarth (exhibition bout); Forrest 7.0, defeated Stenhouse! 7.0; Evans 9.1, defeated Kiely 9.6; Fleming 12.0, defeated Prior 12.0; Campbell 7.12, defeated Cowan 8.3: Lew Foy drew with Rochford; Graham 6.5, defeated McKay 6.7; Dillon 7.10, defeated Barber. The various trophies have not yet been allocated.. However patrons and competitors can' feel certain that the winners’ names! will appear in the columns of the' “Argus” at an early date.
