Greymouth Races MEETING ABANDONED. Owing to the unsatisfactory acceptances, withdrawal of the Government rebate restriction on petrol, and the general unrest in Europe, the Greymouth Jockey Club decided last evening to abandon its spring meeting, set down for Saturday next at Omoto. As this date was originally set down for the next Easter circuit, it is quite possible that it will be then utilised. N.Z. HORSES AT SYDNEY. (Received September 5 11.35 p.m.) SYDNEY, September 5. The New Zealand horses, Peerless, Beauvite, Royal Chief, and Beaurepaire provided" the highlights in today’s training gallops at Randwick. Buzalong, Adios, and Denis were the best of the local division. Royal Chief was responsible for a sterling gallop over five furlongs in 1.3 J. He retains all his old speed. Beaurepaire ran a sound mile in 1.42 L Te Hero did steady work. Reading ran a brilliant seven furlongs at Victoria Park, defeating St. Constant in 1.283, and finished strongly. Early Bird has been scratched for all spring engagements.
