LABOUR PARTY

GREYMOUTH BRANCH. Mr J. B. Kent (President) was in the chair at the monthly meeting ox the Greymouth Branch of the New Zealand ’ Labour Party last evening, over 30 members being present. One new member was elected. The balance sheet of the Westland Labour Representation Committee was received, and it was decided to con - gratulate the Committee on the stme of its finances. The Secretary’s action in arranging for a wreath to be placed on the grave of the late Mr E. J. Howmd, M.P., was endorsed. Mr A. H. McKane and Miss M. Anderson, the Branch delegates to the Easter Conference of the New Zealand Labour Party at Wellington, presented comprehensive reports on the proceedings, and were thanuea for their work.

Mr McKane also reported on several matters he had brought to IM notice of various Ministers'whilst In Wellington. A motion re-affirming the conifficnce of members in the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) and his Ministry, was unanimously adopted. The Chairman drew the attention of members to the value of the W.E.A. Classes, stating that they were open to citizens of all classes and political faiths. He stated that the series or lectures arranged for the coming season was a comprehensive one, anu that with present world trends, it had become necessary to study carefully, so that propaganda and news could be separated. The science of polifcal economy was being sadly neglectea to-day, and young people in particular should take every opportunity ox studying developments.
