WESTPORT T.C. NOMINATIONS GOOD. Canterbury stables are well represented in the Westport Trotting Club’s nominations for December 26 and 27. C. S. Donald has a good team, comprising Honestus, Mazaire, Blonfield, and Sure Potts, and M. B. Edwards has two good horses in Super Jack and Francisco engaged. C. K. Yeatman, a regular follower of West Coast meetings, will bring over Purina, Storm Signal, Worthy Need, Lucess, Radiant Prince, Guy Whispers, and Lady Be Good. Other outside stables represented are those of J. Davidson (Spreydon), with Silk King, Bon Haven, Stella Derby, and Nahlin; C. A. Walker (New Brighton), with Real Mae; D. Bennett (Christchurch), with Gold Potts; T. Butler (Christchurch), with Stamboul; N. G. T. Smith (Belfast), with Red Harvester; F. P. Brosnan (Christchurch), with Battlevale and Devotion; G. T. Robinson (Christchurch), with Our Fay; F. G. Lynch (Reefton), with Janet Gaynor and Lady Ann; B. J. Mackie (Kaikoura), with Worthy Merit; A. Purdon (Addington), with Maltravers; A. Rhodes (Woolston), with Boreas; L. F. Berkett (Hope), with Happi, Tristam. Cavatina, Dusky Chum, Travisque and Clue Casey; J. Cenk (Christchurch), with Major Guy. Of the Westport horses, Replica and High Noon are pleasing most in their work. The first-named is trained by Jim Durnin, who raced Travis Thorn and Worthy Star with some success. She raced early in her career in the Canterbury district to get on the Winning list. Pamelus is a likely sort, trained by H. Bennett, and should be a likely proposition for ’ the local races. Silk Attire is an honest sort trained by Jack Spillane, and over a mile it may have improved sufficiently on last year’s form to win the local race on Boxing Day.

OMOTO TRACK WORK. Omoto was the scene of unusual activity yesterday morning in view of the approaching West Coast circuit but track conditions were not satisfactory after the recent heavy rains, and times wore slow. Malvasia and Gay Lyric were partners over five furlongs, Gay Lyric finishing more resolutely. She is in good order at present, as is Malvasia, who will be improved considerably with more fast work. Queen Linda and Cardplayer were responsible for the best effort of the morning over four furlongs, which was traversed in 535 seconds. The Coal Creek trainer, J. Stewart, made his first appearance, at Omoto with \Great Memory, Polistina, and Arrowrose. Great Memory and Pohstina were allotted an easy four-fur-long task. Great Memory is in line shape at present. The Masquerader looked well, oJt failed to appreciate the soft going. He was given a strong working gallop. He appears to have thrown off his unsoundness. J , Gilford is a much improved horse, and struck out freely over seven fur--1OE S mmeline Girl finished clear of Land Raid over five furlongs. Emmeline Girl is very well at present, and is in fine racing shape. Looking big and well, Land Raid will require only a couple of strong gallops to freshen him up again. Metric was allotted only a nghtask, whilst Arrowrose sprinted over three furlongs. Poteflt who shaped disappointingly at Hororata, has been returned to J. Johnston at Omoto. E. Kingan is expected from Rlccaiton this week with Bit o’ Blue and Metal Bird.
