“Heavy Water” Injected [Aus. & N.Z. Cable Assn.l (Received December 5, 7 p.m.) LONDON, December 5. The “Daily Herald” says: Doctor G. A. Stephens and Mr M. W. Williams, of Swansea, using subcutaneous injections of "heavy water,” enabled a patient suffering from cancer of the tongue, upon which an operation could not be performed, to eat and speak, which the patient found impossible last month. ; American scientists discovered this “heavy water” in 1933, in ordinary water, in the proportion of one part to six thousand. It is producible by passing electricity through water, and is obtainable ffom Norway, owing to the extent 'of electric plants and waterfalls there. -
