AMATEUR ATHLETICS
GREY EXECUTIVE MEETS. A meeting of the executive of the Greymouth Amateur Athletic Club was held in the United Pavilion last evening, there being present: Mr T. P Ryan (chaiunan), Misses M. Taylor and N. Kennedy, Messrs H. Silcock, I. Steel, E. A. Bastings, Lynch, S. McDonnell, and E. B. E. Taylor (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Messrs J. Bluett and W. Mann. The chairman welcomed the lau./ members to the committee, and stressed the important part the ladies played in the success of the club. It was decided to hold a monster amateur sports meeting on Saturday, January 20, in which Canterbury and Buller athletes would be asked to compete. This meeting will consist of a full amateur athletic and cycling programme. _ , , I It was left to the secretary to apply for admission by the club to the Mahar Cup contest. meetings. . A .. It was decided to write to the Canterbury Centre for a suitable date. On the motion of Mr I. Steel, the following were appointed to the selection committee: Messrs E. 8,. E. ylor E. A. Bastings, and W. Mann. On the suggestion of Mr S. McDonnell it was decided to approach the Westport, Reefton, and Cobden clubs with the object of holding a West Coast championship meeting, and perhaps later forming a sub-centre of the Canterbury Athletic It was resolved that the club should immediately take steps towards this
Arrangements to hold a shop day and run weekly dances were left m the hands of Misses N. Kennedy and M. Taylor, and Messrs M. J. Lynch and S. McDonnell. The offers of Messrs V. Loft and 1. Steel offering cups to the club Were accepted with thanks. The latter cup is to be presented for the most points gained in inter-business ladies’ relay teams.
