QUEEN CARNIVAL
Scenes of Enthusiasm TO-NIGHT’S RESULT AWAITED. The monster Bazaar conducted at the Town Hall in aid of the Marist Brothers’ rebuilding fund was continued yesterday afternoon and last night with unabated interest. The Town Hall, with its glittering array of lights and beautifully decorated stalls, created a real carnival atmosphere. There was not a dull moment from the time the evening session commenced till the doors were closed at 11.30 o’clock. The brisk business of sales, and side-show work, was relieved from time to time by much appreciated items from ■ Miss I Miriam Trott’s School of Dancing, while the pupils of the Marist Brothers’ School' presented a series of very fine pyramid tableaux. The present Carnival seems to have created ■ unprecedented interest, and to-night, when the Bazaar closes, should witness a record crowd of enthusiastic patrons. During the course of the evening, many of the important guessing competitions will be decided. Pupils of Miss Vivienne Knowles’ School of Dancing will offer a variety programme.
The Executive Committee have decided that at 10 o’clock the final returns of the four Queens must be handed in. Then, as speedily as possible, the result of this well organised and keenly-contested queen contest will be known to the assembly. The result up to the 'present remains very open, and the final stage of the competition is proving most strenuous.
