[Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, May 27. 'The weather report is as follows:— General situation: An anti-cyclone is centred over the northern Tasman Sea. Pressure is very low to the south of Chatham Islands and has also fallen considerably over southeastern Australia. Forecast: Winds moderate to strong but. decreasing; southwesterly winds prevailing generally, but gradually backing to northwesterly in the far south, and again freshening. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough to rough north of Farewell Spit and south of Dunedin; elsewhere moderate, but with a considerable southerly swell on the East Coast. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate to strong south-westerly winds, backing in the southern portion to northwesterly; seas rather rough to rough. Weather for the most part fair to fine, but conditions are gradually becoming unsettled in the western and far southern districts of the uSouth Island with scattered Tains.
