STATE HOUSES
TO KEEP UP WITH NEEDS. HASTINGS, April 29. A statement that the Department of Housing Construction would continue to let contracts throughout the Dominion, for the erection of State houses, so long as the need for additional housing exists, and in quantities calculated to keep the building trade fully engaged, was made by Mr J. A. Lee, at Hastings this morning, He added that no advantage would be gained from letting contracts when building materials and labour were not available to have them completed, and when this circumstance would only force up the price against the Department.
