Ten private placements were effected by the State Placement Service at Greymouth this week, two of which were permanent, three temporary and five casual. In addition one man was placed with a State Department or in subsidised fulltime employment.

An Auckland Press Association telegram states that a bust of Bishop Pompallier (the pioneer Catholic tVlissionary leader in New Zealand), made by the Auckland sculptor, Mr William H. Wright, A.R.C.A., has oeen accepted by the Royal Academy, London, for the approaching spring exhibition. The work is in plaster, and is the original of the bronze bust placed in St. Patrick’s Cathedral early this year.
