Mr. Eden was asked in- the Commons whether he was aware of the recent proposal made by the Dutch Government to the three Scandinaian Governments, that they should ,ium Britain and France in recognising the Italian conquest of Ethiopia, and whether the Dutch Government acted with the approval and authority of Britain. - Mr. Eden replied that, before taking any final step in the matter, the Netherlands Government intended to consult the British and French Governments. The initiative in the matter of recognition lay exclusively with the Netherlands, and the reply to the second part of the question was in the negative.
