GENERAL ELECTION
MR HARGEST NOT IMPRESSIVE. [Per Press Association. I DUNEDIN, February 10. Prolonged interruptions and constant booing and hooting were encountered by Mr J. Hargest, M.P., when he spoke at the South Dunedin Town Hall last evening. Oply at rare intervals was Mr Hargest allowed to proceed with anything- like an uninterrupted hearing, as a large section of the crowd which filled the hall loudly challenged almost every statement he made, and pt times made it absolutely impossible for him to be heard even by those nearest the platform. An appeal - for order by the chairman only increased the uproar. TRYING AGAIN. AUCKLAND, February 10. Mr A. J. Murdoch was selected, today, to contest the Marsden seat in the interests of the National Party, at the forthcoming General Election. The other, nominee was Mr P. R. Gardner. ' Approximately 300 delegates from all parts of the electorate attended a conference at Waipu, which is the largest gathering of the kind ever held in the electorate.
