LEAGUE FOOTBALL
INANGAHUA SUB-CENTRE. A special meeting was held on Tuesday to discuss a conference to be held at Auckland this month. Mr T. F. McKenzie was appointed as delegate. It was decided to forward the following remits for the conference:— 1 (1) That for future South Island teams the three-selector system be adopted. (2) That a more active programme be adopted for the introduction of League football in the schools throughout the Dominion, and that legal opinion be obtained regarding the right of League coaches to attend schools for the purpose of coaching boys who wish to play the code. (3) That the New Zealand League undertake to supply a sufficient number of rule books to Leagues ,so that every player may be issued with one. (4) That all referees be asked to sit for an examination in the rules of the game, such examinations to be under the control of the New Zealand League or.. New Zealand Referees’ Association, and that badges be issued to those who are successful in passing the said examination. (5) That the New Zealand League be requested to print and supply to Leagues at cost a Rugby League annual similar to that printed in 1933. The delegate was instructed to support all remits that have been forwarded by the /West Coast Centre. Several matters in connection with the code in the Inangahua district .were discussed, and arrangements made for the drawing up of a progressive programme. It was also decided to recommend to the annual meeting that all referees be included in the Sub-Centre’s free insurance scheme.
