DRINK MORE MILK CAMPAIGN. [British Official Wireless]. RUGBY, August 14. More milk was drunk in Great Britain in July than in any one month since records have been kept. The quantity sold for liquid consumption was 50,449,151 gallons, an increase of 3,209,372 gallons over July last year. The increase may be regarded as the outcome of the advertising campaign by the Milk Marketing Board, and of various measures taken by the Government in pursuit of its nutrition policy to encourage the consumption of milk in schools and among expectant mothers, and to make a supply available at lower prices in these cases. EXPORTS INCREASE. LONDON, August 16. British exports in July totalled £46,659,000 sterling, an increase of £7,483,000, the highest for seven years. ANIMAL DISEASES. RUGBY, August 14. Mr. W. S. Morrison (Minister for Agriculture), is making good progress with his plans for carrying out that part of the Government’s new agricultural proposals which deals with the elimination of animal diseases. The changes, which will result in the placing of the entire veterinary service on a national oasis, are likely to come into effect at the beginning of next year. WOOL TRADE. BRADFORD, August 16. The Bradford market was' brought to a standstill owing to holiday week. Tops and yarns, unchanged, were firm.
