BOOMS BLOCKED?

New York Stock Exchange OBJECTION TO GOVERNMENT REGULATION. [Aust. & N.Z. Cable Assn.] (Received August 18, 7.50 p.m.) NEW YORK, August 18. Serious charges that the United States Government, by its regulation, impairs “the broad liquid market” for securities, are contained in the annual report of Mr. Gay, President of the New York Stock Exchange. Mr. Gay grants that good has resulted from the federal supervision of the Exchange, but he points out that the Securities Exchange Commission’s activities have created abnormal market conditions by excessive regulation. He warns the public that their interest may suffer harm as a result, particularly in a time of stress.
