ATHLETICS
LONDON, August 17. Women athletes chosen for the Empire Games at Sydney are: High-jump, Dorothy Odam; Sprinter, Winifred Jefferys; Long-jump, Ethel Raby; 220 yards’ champion, K. Tiffin. They will be supplemented by a j'avelin thrower and a sprinter. BERLIN, August 17. Complaints that Britain defeated Germany by unfair methods, at the recent athletic contest at White City, are made in the newspaper “National Zeitung.” “The victory was secured because Britain excluded certain athletic events, such as the javelin and hammer throwing, and the hop, step and jump, in which the Germans excel.”
