REEFTON NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent). REEFTON, August 16. Mrs. J. Kelly, received the sad news that her sister, Mrs. Silk, passed away .on Saturday night at Invercargill, The deceased lady,' who was about 68 years of age, had been in ill-health for only a few weeks, so that her death has come as a shock to her relatives. She leaves two daughters, and is also survived by three brothers and five sisters. The brothers are Messrs F. and T. Kearns (Soldiers’ Road) and Les Kearns (Reefton), while the sisters are Mesdames Foster (Christchurch), Solomon (Westport), Francois (Westport), Kelly and N. Collins (Reefton). Mr. K. J. Holyoake, M.P. for Motueka, states that, as the result of representations made by him to the Minister of Education, as a result of his inspection of the Reefton District High School ground, the Minister has informed that the Department had agr'eed to the improvement of the area. Nelson Education Board has beeri authorised to make the necessary arrangements.
